Day 8

Indigenous Foodways

Oral Histories @culturalconservancy

Water and Food are interwoven systems on which human life depends. Revitalizing food systems is an important focus for many Native American nations.

On this Indigenous People’s Day, we invite you to listen to one or several of the oral histories recorded by the Cultural Conservancy for their series “Traditional Foodways of Native America.”

Listen as elders, foragers, fishermen, cooks, and community leaders share about the importance of the chile pepper, moose, pinyon nuts, salmon, maple syrup, bison, and other traditional foods.

What did you learn? What will stay with you?
