Day 16

What about Rainwater?

Did you know – in Tucson, Arizona more water falls as rain on the city in an average year than the entire population of the city consumes of municipal water (the bulk of which is imported/pumped in at great cost from the Colorado River over 300 miles away)?

 

Your friends and neighbors are learning how to “harvest” (store and redirect) rainwater for a free source of landscape irrigation, and to replenish our aquifers. Colectando Agua Cosechando Vida is one local Phoenix group supporting these efforts.

 

Go outside during your next rainstorm (if there’s no lightening) and observe how the water flows off your structures and property.

¿Sabías que en Tucson, Arizona, cae más agua en forma de lluvia sobre la ciudad en un año promedio que toda la población de la ciudad consume agua municipal (la mayor parte de la cual se importa desde el río Colorado a más de 300 millas de distancia)?
