Day 14

♻💧Showers to flowers – Recycling water ♻💧

Use of reclaimed water for irrigation

Recycled water replaces existing drinking water supplies for non-potable uses (like irrigation) and is generally available at much lower prices as compared to potable water.

Arizona has been recycling wastewater for 97 years!!!

Did you know that Phoenix recycles more than 80% of its wastewater? This can go to benefit all sorts of green spaces, like parks, cemeteries, orchards, and gardens! You’ll often see these in purple pipes.

The birds, insects, and other pollinators and migratory species will also say thank you to reused water that helps keep wetlands wet throughout dry seasons.

Next to water conservation, water recycling is the only practice that can help meet our increasing water demands.
